Multi-factor Authentication (MFA)

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a security mechanism that requires users to provide multiple forms of identification to verify their identity. It adds an extra layer of protection by combining two or more different factors, such as something the user knows (such as a password or PIN), something the user possesses (such as a mobile device or smart card), or something the user is (such as biometrics like fingerprints or facial recognition).

By utilizing multiple factors, MFA significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access to sensitive information or accounts. Even if one factor is compromised (e.g., a password is stolen), the attacker would still need to provide additional valid factors to gain access. MFA is widely used in various sectors, including online banking, email services, social media platforms, and corporate networks, as it offers an effective defense against password-related attacks and enhances overall security.
